Destined to be Yours Fan Art (Part 1)

Are you a fan of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza? Have you seen their TV series entitled "Destined to be Yours?" Or are you fond of crafting with basically whatever-you-can-find-in-your-grandmother's-kitchen-and-knitting-kit? Or are you just a bored soul like me who is trying to find something worthwhile to do on your free time?

Then you're in the right place.

But just to be clear, this isn't a tutorial on how to make toothpick dolls. I will post a tutorial on the basics of creating toothpick dolls soon. But for now, I will just talk about one of the highlights of my hobby, toothpick doll making.

GMA7 (one of Philippines' major TV networks) launched a fan art contest for their TV drama series Destined to be Yours. It starred Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, famously called AlDub in the Philippines and one of the most popular celebrities in Philippine show business. The fan art contest ran for 10 weeks, each with different prizes and all are memorabilias of the drama.

On the third week, I decided to give it a shot. The prize was Maine Mendoza's flower crown which she wore/used in one of the memorable scenes of DTBY.

This was my actual entry. It's a toothpick doll version of Alden and Maine's characters in the drama. I thought that since the prize was Maine's flower crown, it would be nice to incorporate it to the toothpick dolls.

Unfortunately, I didn't win. But I wasn't upset. Instead, I felt lucky that even though I didn't win, my entry was able to reach top 10.

And I even got 3rd highest score.

Not only that, I even got featured at the GMA7 official website and their social networking sites : twitter, facebook, and instagram.

I was happy even if I didn't win. Through this, I was able to realize that my art, my craft, can be appreciated. This is just the beginning. I made more toothpick dolls before, and I will soon post them in this blog.

Who wouldn't want to see America Singer in toothpick doll version wearing her signature blue gown she wore on her debut on the Illea Capital Report? It's that time of the year when people celebrate the coming of the new year under the Lunar calendar. Chinese people celebrate this event in a very colorful way. The culture and tradition is evident on the clothes they wear, the food, the dance, and the whole celebration itself. If you came into this post then one thing is for sure: you know who America Singer is and you've also read the Selection series. I've recently come across with this series. I've been a reader of thriller genres or novels about some heroic detective solving various cases of murder and stuff. I was never a fan of the romance genre and I would always pass by the romance section on our local bookstore.
